Customer Comments "Dear Carlo, I have decided to write to you to give you my opinions on a couple of products I have purchased from you recently which have turned out to be a real improvement to my Digiscoping EagleEye DigiMount Adaptor - This has been an answer to my dreams !! The DigiMount Adaptor is easy to use and the camcorder is now secured properly and is locked on to the scope lens without the worry of falling off with the method I previously used. The thread on the DigiMount Adaptor is just the right depth and fits perfectly onto my Camcorder without the use of any step-up / step-down rings. It only takes moments to attach or detach the DigiMount Adaptor. The four screws tighten up easily onto the collar and more importantly - equally !! In my occupation as a Quality Manager I am always looking forward to improve and enhance the product and eliminate problems . This item has been really well thought out and all the obsticales eliminated, so much so that with my particular set up I cant find fault with it, unheard of in my profession, keep up the good work !! Eagleeye OpticZoom 5x Lens I was very sceptical at first regarding this product due to the size and small diameter of the lens but after the first time I was out in the field, all my fears were unfounded. The image taken on my camcorder of a still / videograb is of quite good quality and although the diameter of the lens is not particlarly wide, the amount of light that is let in is amazing !! The manual focus ring feels solid and with my particular camcorder I can connect the 5x OpticZoom Lens directly onto the camcorder without any step-up / step-down rings. This has allowed me to take images at close distance, something I have not been able to achieve previously and the images produced are sharp and clear. The weight of the OpticZoom Lens is quite light which does not put a strain on the lens thread. The magnification is 50x with my setup which is just the right magnification for birds which are close to. Clearly a quality made product !! Yours sincerely " - Paul Hackett - Leading UK DigiBirder ( Sony PC100 camcorder )
"I've tried out your new 5x OpticZoom and have the following compliments:
Your lens is unquestionably the best front mount 5x extender available.
The quality of materials is first rate; the focus adjustment is very
handy and not available in other lenses, the resolution is the best
that I've come across and finally, most unusual, the edge to edge image
is excellent throughout. Congratulations on a fine product": "It's a
great lens " - Donald Rosenfeld (Sony Mavica FD91) "Worth the wait. Excellent. I wish you every success" Frank McGarrahan (Olympus C2000Z) "I received my Optic Zoom and like it very much!" Terri Norris (Olympus C2000Z) "I got my 5x OpticZoom through today and am very pleased. It is exceptionally well made and much smaller and easier to use than I expected. Thanks, it's a great product" - John Clark (Fuji MX2900) "Received my zoom lens and adapters today. Thank you, and I hope all your customers are as well pleased as I am. The product looks very good to me. Regards":"I am well pleased with the product it exceeded my expectation !!" - David Strickland (Olympus C2000Z) "I received the much desired EagleEye OpticZoom and am very impressed with it. I like the quality and the light gathering. Thanks very much for making this available and good luck with the new ones scheduled to come out" - Paul & Carolyn Bussa (Sony Mavica FD91) " The Eagle Eye is quite satisfactory as a telephoto lens as it was intended. The pictures are sharp and there is no distortion " - Fred W Bopp (Epson 850Z) " EagleEye, I tested the lens with the 950. Using ISO WG9 test pattern at close range showed that the native resolution of the camera itself is degraded only minimally by the lens. The EagleEye will solve two problems that until now have plagued my uses of the 950 for BIRD photography. The Nikon 2x teleconverter does not provide enough gain in zoom range for birds except in rare situations. So I've been using a Bausch & Lomb "Discoverer" spotting scope, with eye piece adapter. (After testing 6 different spotting scopes with ISO pattern at a local optical products store. I found the Discoverer provided the best resolution - degraded from the camera's native optics by about 35 percent.) The main problem with the Discoverer turned out to be the built-in blue (lens coating) filter!! Photos of birds often involve very bright backlighting from a blue or grey sky. With the blue filter, this fools the 950's CCD to create a bright blue border just inside the darker edge of the bird, branch, or other object. The problem is present even in the uncompressed TIFF versions of the images. But I've found no such problems when using Nikon's own lenses alone!! It turns out the the EagleEye photos taken under similar conditions are also free of the blue channel distortion!!!! By the way, there is no way to adjust the 950's white balance to correct for the blue filter of the scope (it adjusts electronic gains AFTER the image is captured by the CCD). Second benefit of the EagleEye is that it can be used HAND-HELD for quick reaction when one first sees a bird near enough for reasonable photo. The spotting scope is long and heavy, and requires use of a tripod for position and focus adjustment. 5x on the 950 turns out to be roughly the maximum zoom useful for constantly moving shore birds. The quality of the optics makes the lens/camera almost as good as the scope/camera combination set to 15x (which actually produces about an 11x expansion of the image). Measured image expansion of the ISO test pattern turns out to be about 5.4x. Thanks for a very high quality product!! " - Kenneth L. Bowles (Nikon CP950) "I've now had a chance to try out my new EagleEye 5x zoom on my Kodak DC240 in a variety of conditions. The results have far exceeded my expectations. I took some shots first of all of flowers and trees in bright sunlight and was impressed that even at a fair distance details on the larger flowers were coming out clearly. I then took a number of shots in what I thought would be difficult if not impossible conditions - mainly people sitting in shadows, under trees or inside shop houses. I also took some of murals in a temple, again with low lighting and no flash. Most of the time the camera was handheld, sometimes I rested it on a convenient ledge. The results amazed me. Although the focus was a little soft the pictures were acceptably sharp with good strong colours in conditions I thought far too difficult for the OpticZoom to handle. The readings on the camera varied between 1/20th and 1/45th at 4.5. I even fitted a 1.5x converter on the end of the 5x zoom and still got acceptable results. The only pain is the manual fine focussing - you really do have to get it just right or the picture is completely blurred. This means using some sort of LCD hood most of the time if you're outside and even then it takes a while to focus properly. It's worth it though, as the results really are impressive even on a pretty unexceptional camera. Thanks also for answering my questions about the OpticZoom promptly first and getting it to me so swiftly" - John Moore (Kodak DC240) "I am enjoying the lens and Wing kit. The 5x OpticZoom is amazingly sharp, the sharpest and brightest in this long lens class". The OpticZoom feels, and is, solid. Having a 37mm thread out in front helps a lot, too. I love the Wing. It has become an essential part of my heavy accessory and studio work. In the studio the cable release function gets used the most and in the field I'm often using three of its four functions at the same time. With four functions, the Wing is a brace for heavy optics, a panoramic pivot for horizontal images, an attach point for the cable release and an attach point for the Xtend-a-View viewer/magnifier. The weight of the Wing is insignificant but the functions it provides are extensive. The cable release feature is a godsend. I especially like the distance it sits above the button. That button gets used a lot and I can access it easily even with the release arm in place. Good design. With the Wing and the OpticZoom, the cable release and Xtend A View all mounted at the same time, the 950 becomes an intuitively pointing long lens digital camera capable of very fine work. With the camera in macro mode I can fill the frame with a 4 inch field of view" - Peter iNova (Nikon CP950) " Thank you very much for the rapid handling of my OpticZoom order. The OpticZoom arrived yesterday (so fast!). The fabrication shows nice quality construction. I've already used it in the field today (we had excellent blue skies and warm temperatures), and I'm learning how to obtain good focus with it and the Olympus C2000Z. You make a very nice product. Best regards."-Benjamin R. Miller, Ph.D. (Olympus C2000Z) "I want to tell the world that this lens is just what the CP950 owner needs to round out his long range photography. I am very pleased with the product and I would recommend it strongly" - John L. Weitzel (Distinctive Images) Dixon Illinois - Home Town of Ronald Reagan past President of the USA (Nikon CP950) The lens is most impressive, the craftsmanship is superb! " - Jeffrey Makin (Olympus C2020Z) The EagleEye attached easily to my DC290 with the Xtend-a-Lens(tm) and step-down adapter. While compact in size, it is fairly heavy. This makes it a bit awkward to handhold, but no problem when using a tripod or monopod. This is a quality lens. There is very little drop- off in light gathering ability with the lens attached, making it usable even at dusk or in shadows (important for wildlife photography). In fact, I had no problem with motion blur using a monopod with a shutter speed of 1/125 sec. or faster. Nor did I notice any color or geometric distortion. The lens works well with programmed autoexposure, and I found no need to fiddle with EV compensation. The EagleEye multiplies your existing zoom setting by a factor of five. With the threaded lens barrel, filters and additional lens can be attached to the EagleEye. Conclusion: I'm happy with my EagleEye. It takes excellent photos when properly focused, but it is best to bracket your shots (for focal distance) if you are not sure of the range to your target. Happy Shooting " - William Kemler (Kodak DC290) I have received my OpticZoom: really impressive piece of work! For your information it works fine with Kodak DC240 and Epson 850Z (with a ring as you describe). Best regards "- Pierre Espece Some of my E-commerce experiences have been very frustrating and / or disappointing, but dealing via the Internet with you guys has so far been a pleasure. First of all the information on your web site is more than sufficient. When I decided to buy, I knew exactly what I was expecting to get, thanks for all the pictures on the site it was very helpful for me. Then the ordering process was also a "no-brainer", easy to do. Within a few hours I received confirmations of my transaction from the credit company and also from your sales department, this made me feel very good and that everything was in control. Finally, one week later I received my EagleEye OpticZoom here in Montreal, Canada with all the appropriate adapter rings. This is better than what I was expecting, considering the couple days off for the Easter holiday. The lens also looks very high quality. Any time you need my testimonial it would be my pleasure. I hope all the best for you ( you deserve it ). Thank you very much. Best regards" - Claude Alain (Olympus C2000Z) Hi! just wanted to drop a line and tell you I received my OpticZoom. The delivery was extremely fast and accurate. Now that I've had my lens for a few weeks, I can honestly say that I'm very happy with your product. The quality far surpasses my expectations. Thanks for making digital photography take another leap forward in creativity. And now for a request / suggestion........................Having shown your capabilities with your OpticZoom knowledge and quality manufacturing, I think you could build on your reputation as a digital lens innovator........and because of your fantastic OpticZoom product, I thought you might at least consider it. Again thanks for a really fine product and I'll be checking from time to time to see what else you might develop. I'm also passing the word here in my city about your website. I hope it brings you a few more customers. Your product shows you deserve success and yes, you have my permission to use my comments, the camera I use is the Olympus C2020Z. In the mean time, feel free to repeat whatever you want. Your product and customer service deserve it. Again thanks for making such a product available The best to you and yours" - Robert Perreault (Olympus C2020Z). I've had my OpticZoom for 2-3 weeks now and was able to take it to the St. Louis Zoo on May 19 to really try it out with my Oly 2020Z. I really like the OpticZoom! I got some really nice pictures with it, one of which I have attached to this message. Your lens is a high-quality piece of equipment! Sincerely" - Barry Bade (Olympus C2020Z) After reading all the reviews and checking all the reports, I bought an EagleEye about a month ago. I have now taken hundreds of pictures with it, mostly zoo close-ups and I am impressed with the lens - it exceeds my expectations. The pictures are crisp and sharp and make excellent 8x10's. I have a 500mm lens for 1 of my 35mm SLR's and the shots with this lens on my C2020Z seem every bit as good, as improbable as that seems. Employees at the zoo have bought 9 pictures after two visits. Careful hand-holding works fine for me as well as using a tripod. With its case and its light weight, it's easy to carry around 'just in case'. The EagleEye is not cheap, but well worth it if you need the close-up ability for nature or sports shots. They are also nice folks to order from - got mine with no problems in less than a week" Norman Boe (Olympus C2020Z) "Carlo, I really love the EagleEye, it has opened the door to many photos that I couldn't get before. Still a novice with the lense, but find it very easy to use and focus "- Darryl Revenew (Nikon CP950) "Thank you for your quick response, I have received all the products today and am very impressed with the superb quality of all item's. I will be recommending you highly in the future to anyone that may need your services or products. Thank you, once again for your fine product" - Carmen Carrasquillo & Jeff Tsuno - JTGraphics www.jtgraphics.net "Carlo, I just wanted to say a very big THANKYOU to you and all at EagleEye for designing and manufacturing such a superb product. For the last 2 years or so, I have been playing around with cheap add on lenses, combinations and monoculars, having not been able to afford the OpticZoom until now ( though I think I may have spent a lot more in the long run ). The OpticZoom is "the best thing since sliced bread". The quality and build are superb and as for the quality of the images it produces, what can I say, they are great, not the fuzzy out of focus images I have been used to ( I actually thought that they were quite good until I compared them to my latest shots ). I will not hesitate to recommend your products to anyone who asks me my opinion. Thanks for all your help regarding my purchase and also for the very quick delivery. You have my permission to use this if you want to in any advertising you may do. Many thanks. Nigel Clayton (One very happy customer) " - Nigel Clayton ( Nikon CP9x0 ) "These photographs were my first attempt at using your OpticZoom 5x lens on my Olympus C2000Z digital camera. I am by no means up in photography but after seeing my first results using your lens I must say I felt a certain amount of pride. What made me sit up in amazement was when I put the photographs into my computer was the detail, on the attached p1010012.jpg when I enlarged it, there on the wall was a fly which in my restricted knowledge was amazing. The photographs were taken from a distance of about 30 feet. May I congratulate you on an outstanding engineering success. " - Terence Matson ( Olympus C2000Z ) "Hi Carlo, generous man that he is, my father George paid for the EagleEye OpticZoom which was ordered yesterday. The postman knocked on his door at 07.30 this morning with the parcel containing the lens. Within minutes I have been able to get good quality pix onto my monitor screen, having attached it to my Olympus C2020Z. The quality of your product is exactly as is shown by the photographs on your website and I am very glad I decided to buy the lens. Regards " - Max Fletcher ( Olympus C2020Z ) "Hello Carlo, I received the EagleEye OpticZoom today. I appreciate your prompt and courteous response, and I'm already very satisfied and impressed with the lens's capability. I plan to recommend EagleEye lenses to my friends and I look forward to future business with your company. Thanks again "- Chris Pettitt ( Olympus C3000Z ). " Hi Carlo, just want to say THANK YOU for a very fine product. About two week ago I found myself at a very prominent camera shop that tried to sell me a 2x converter for my Nikon CP950, but it was not what I was looking for. I told the gentleman that I was looking for something in the range of about a 400mm to 500mm lens, he told me that no one makes such a lens for my Nikon in that range !! BOY, was he wrong. Now I can't wait to show him your product and I am sure that you will be hearing from him, as I think his customers will enjoy your product as much as I love it. Keep up the great work, all the best to you and your team. From one Happy customer "........................"and yes you have my permission to post my E-mail on your website, anything to help a company with the quality you produce and cares about their customers. As with our talk today, I found you to be a person dedicated to detail and customer satisfaction, it is hard to find companies like yours these days and as I said today, I will push your products, as I believe in Quality ! " - Michael Ledgere ( Nikon CP950 ) . " Hi Carlo: I got the OpticZoom on Monday ( it took only 6 days ) and my initial impressions are that the lens is very solidly built and looks elegant, the images from the lens are very sharp and I am very impressed by it. I will need a little more practice to improve my hand-held shooting, but I will say it is a great 5x lens! Thanks a lot for your prompt despatch of the lens and your friendly emails " - Min Wu ( Olympus C3030Z ). "
Hi Carlo, I just had to let you know how happy I am with by recent purchase
from you. The Xtend-a-View Pro Wing Version is such an improvement over
the previous plastic version that I feel that it should be standard
OEM equipment for the Nikon 990. As for the 'Flashgun Arm Attachment'
that connects to the wing, it is unbelievably stable and compact, a
GREAT addition " " Hello, I
just received my EagleEye OpticZoom 5x and accessories that I ordered.
I've had about 30 min to use the optics and I have to say "great job!".
I own an Olympus C3000Z and I had a 1.45x Olympus Lens and a 3x Kenko
Lens. The 1.45x is very clean but the 3x Kenko vignette's pretty badly........
At that point I figured that I'd never find an extension lens for my
camera that would let me get any closer to the birds and wildlife that
I shoot. Well, after seeing the test photos on your website, I decided
to give your lens a try. What a world of difference !! The quality of
the product is top notch and the optics are beautiful with only "very
slight" vignette at the extreme edges (so little than you can't really
see it in the LCD viewer). And I'm impressed with the 37-46mm Special
Lens Thread Adapter Ring in that it's super-low profile. I've got other
step-up/down rings and they always add to the length of the lens, your
design avoids that and I'm impressed. .....Anyway, I love the unit and
your shipping was incredible ( 1 week to the USA ). Let me know when
you come out with other great products! Sincerely " - Jeff Bakke
( Olympus C3000Z) "
Hi Carlo.....I was at work when the postman arrived today and as I'm
not expecting any other delivery I can definitely say it's the OpticZoom
& Xtend-a-View and stuff. Just dropping a line to say once again thanks
for all the tremendous help, replying to my emails rapidly and sending
out my stuff true to your word. I must say your company is most helpful,
efficient and would put a lot of ' top On-line sites ' to shame. Thanks
and Regards " - Pat O'Keeffe, Ireland - Nikon Coolpix 990. " Good day.
I recently acquired the EagleEye along with the Xtend-a-View Pro for
my camera. Although I am just familiarizing with your products, I can
only praise their quality, craftmanship and above all their enormous
aportation to digital photography. Best regards " " I am more than pleasantly surprised....I am completely astounded !! This 5x lens you have produced is just wonderful. It blows me away !! It opens up a whole new World of options and ideas. Novice, Beginner or Pro..... it makes no differance... this EagleEye OpticZoom, will definately enhance your photgraphy experience 100% . Let your imagination run rampant !! The quality and ease of use is most obvious and right at your fingertips. Mark me down and include my name on the list of fully satisfied customers !! ..........Once again, thanks for your time and consideration, along with the great product you have provided " - Jerry Vettraino (Olympus C3040Z) " Dear Carlo,
I just wanted to write to tell you how appreciative I was of your help
recently. It is so good to deal with a company that obviously treats
its clients as though they matter. Very refreshing in this day and age
when the usual reaction to a problem is " Nothing to do with me
". Long may EagleEye OpticZooms continue to deliver such excellent
service. As you know I have had Nikon cameras for over twenty years
and can recommend their quality. I currently have both an F5 and a 90x
as the core of my collection with Nikon lenses of all types. Of course
digital photography has become a new way of life and having moved through
Nikon's various versions, as they appeared I now operate a CoolPix 990. "Dear
Carlo: ........The quality of the OpticZoom Lens is indeed very impressive...
" " Hi Carlo,
Hope all is well with you - I thought you might appreciate an update
on my experiences with the EagleEye OpticZoom and my Olympus 2040Z at
the Monaco Grand Prix....... ........I am more than happy with the results!!
"Gentlemen:
As someone who frequents several digital photography fora, I have been
involved in many discussions of CP990 add-ons. As a result, I have had
several people contact me with questions about some of your products.
Here is a typical reply to them, if you're interested. If you choose
to use it an any way, you may do so. |
